5 Types of People in Every Class

I recently finished a class that was seven days long for 10 hours each day. It doesn't really matter what the class was, but it reminded me that there are at least 5 types of classic personalities in every class. I'm certain if you have been in a classroom recently you will recognize these people.

1. "The Expert"
As the teacher explains an example of herding emus on the Nile river, this person chimes in how soft the sand on the Nile was last time he was there. Despite being in the same class as you, no location is ever too remote or any task too far-fetched for this person who has "been there and done all of that".

2. "The Interpreter"
This person explains to everyone in the room the very thing you thought you just said, but they are a spokesperson for the group and make everything you say more easily understandable for the group and the instructor. Very helpful.

3. "The Hypochondriac"
The hypochondriac has had every problem known to man and is usually a master in the art of hypothetical questions. Their propensity for "what if" scenarios is only outdone by their ability to beat a dead horse.

4. "The Mediator"
This person sometimes plays the role of interpreter, but only by mistake. The mediator is the one in the group who feels tension during discussion and makes sure everyone is happy. This is done with the giving of verbal flowers. "Oh Steve, that was really great! I think you are saying what we all think".

5. "The Scary Clown"
Everyone knows clowns aren't funny. Neither is this person who is trying desperately to get attention. They have a "funny" comment for every story the teacher has. At the same time they are also trying to be the rebel of the class. Not sure whether to be funny or tough, they just turn into a scary clown.

I'm sure you have encountered some other types as well. Feel free to tell others about them in the comment section below or go write your own blog Mr. Expert!!
